Music Spotlight: Johnny Day
As much as I may like an artist’s music, their story often intrigues me more. When I heard that Johnny Day recently left a job working in the Colorado oil fields to move to Nashville, I wanted to learn more.
Day got interested in music when his elementary school class went on a field trip to see an orchestra. As a child, he had never seen anything like it.

Whenever a new artist breaks into the country music scene, there must be something about their music to instantly catch the listener’s ear and make them want to continue listening; whether it be a catchy melody, a great voice, or outstanding lyrics that invoke some sort of emotion.
The Fence Post: A bright new Day in country music
A bright, new Day is dawning on the Nashville music scene. To be specific, Johnny Day, an up-and-coming country singer/songwriter.
Born Jonathan Earl Lane Day in December 1993 to Donnie Day and Holly Hardin, Johnny and sisters Sydney and Samantha grew up country kids on Colorado’s Eastern Plains. There the family owned good using horses. Day also enjoyed lots of summer months and other visits to his maternal grandfather John Hardin’s 2,000-acre cattle ranch in Sedalia, Mo.
A 2012 graduate of Platte Valley High School, the Kersey, Colo., native next spent a few semesters in a community college but quickly chose music over any other career path.
